When you think of famous twins, a few come to mind — the Olsens, Dylan, Cole Sprouse, and The Veronicas.
But if you ask any Harry Potter fans, the most famous twins in the world would be the Weasley Brothers, aka James and Oliver Phelps.
The 36-year-olds are scheduled to appear at this weekend’s Supanova Comic Con & Gaming convention, which will be held at Perth Convention Centre over two days.
The duo is no strangers to Perth or our beautiful State. With Oliver proposing to his partner in Esperance, he also said he couldn’t wait for tfora a “scforr” of Little Creatures. His brother James has other “nerdy” plans in mind.
“During the lockdown, I got really into sky gazing, so I’d love to go to one of the dark sky areas around there … all the stars are different down this side of the world than they are up in the UK, so (I want) to see all different constellations are like down that way and I’ve heard that WA have some of the best places in the world to check them out,” James told AAA.
The twins and many of the Harry Potter stars said that the reunion special, which aired at the beginning of the year, has reignited fans’ passion for the much-loved franchise.
“To be honest with you, it’s always been very popular. And I think if anything, maybe having the reunion on the TV has kind of just brought it back into people’s minds, but it’s still being really popular, and it’s something that we’re still very proud to be part of,” Oliver added.
This year’s Supanova festival marks the fan convention’s 20th anniversary, focusing on science fiction and fantasy film and TV, comic books, anime, gaming, and collectibles.
The Phelps will be joined by Smallville stars Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum, Lost actor Emilie de Ravin, and acclaimed voice actor Veronica Taylor, whose credits include Pokemon and Sailor Moon.
In addition to an action-packed weekend of Q&A panels, photo-ops, and autographs, ticketholders can enjoy a variety of awesome activations presented by Marvel, Disney, and Pixar, cosplay, and community panels.
The Phelps twin’s best advice for fans wanting to capture their attention and be the most memorable is to have genuine conversations with them.
“We’ve always found it’s just nice just to chat with people, and we’re always happy to just if anyone’s ever got any questions about how we filmed Quidditch or anything like that, we’re more than happy to explain it,” James said.
“It makes it much easier for us when people engage with us. Where it’s not just yes or no answers, but to be honest with you, that’s what we found isn’t the Australian way anyway; people are very outgoing,” Oliver added.
Tickets for Supanova are still available online.
